All information below applies to first-time, main-campus freshmen applying for the summer or fall 2025 terms. All students can review complete information on admission and scholarship deadlines and policies at UA’s Admissions website and UA’s Scholarships website .
- Application Opportunities: Apply through the UA Undergraduate App or the Common App. Your application for automatic merit scholarships and many competitive scholarships are included in this application.
- Testing Optional: Standardized ACT or SAT scores are not required for admission consideration.
- Essay Submissions and Letters of Recommendation: These are not required.
- Priority Admissions Deadline: January 10 is the priority deadline for admissions. (Students who submit an application and all supporting documents after January 10, will receive consideration for admission on a space available basis.)
- Competitive Scholarships Deadline: January 10 is the final deadline for competitive scholarships (including additional scholarships applied for through the Alabama Scholarship Award Manager).
- Automatic Merit Scholarship Deadline: January 10 is the priority deadline for automatic merit scholarships, and May 1 is the final deadline for automatic merit scholarship consideration for admitted students.
- Steps to Enrollment: Once you’re admitted, you must pay a Freshman Enrollment Deposit, apply for housing and register for Bama Bound Orientation.

UA awards scholarships in two broad categories: automatic merit and competitive. Automatic merit scholarships are awarded upon admission to students who meet the stated scholarship requirements and deadlines. Competitive scholarships are included in the application for admission, and additional competitive scholarships may be applied for through the Alabama Scholarship Award Manager (ASAM). You may be eligible for Alabama Advantage – a need-based scholarship designed to remove financial barriers that prevent Alabama residents from carving their own path at UA.
To recognize outstanding achievements of Alabama high school students, UA is offering the Alabama Prestige Scholarship to at least one student from every high school in the state. If you are selected, this scholarship will cover tuition for four years, as well as housing for the first year.
